How do I become an Instructor?

Whether you want to start your own CPR training business, start a side gig, or teach for your organization, we can help you succeed. Get started today with an American Heart Association BLS or Heartsaver Instructor course. As an AHA Heartsaver Instructor, you can teach all programs and course combinations that include CPR AED, First Aid, and K-12. As a BLS Instructor, you can teach all Heartsaver courses, in addition to the BLS courses. Once you become certified as an AHA Instructor, you can easily become certified as an instructor for the American Red Cross, Health & Safety Institute, and others, through their each of reciprocity processes.

  1. Submit an Instructor Alignment Form. Upon acceptance, you will receive an Instructor Candidate packet to complete and return.
  2. Have current AHA provider status in the discipline for that Instructor Course and be proficient in all the skills of that discipline. Disciplines include ACLS, BLS, PALS, PEARS and Heartsaver.
  3. Successfully complete the Instructor Essentials Course for the discipline for which you are becoming an Instructor, including both the online portion and the classroom/hands-on session.
  4. Successfully be monitored teaching within 6 months of completing the hands-on session of their Instructor Essentials Course.

Once you become an Instructor, you will have access to the most current emergency cardiovascular care science, course updates, training resources and tools through the online AHA Atlas Network. You will also be able to post class dates and times to reach more students through multiple public websites.

Do you provide training for addtional instructor disciplines?

Response Ready has authorized trainers for every instructor discipline of American Heart Association (AHA) and American Red Cross (ARC). AHA Heartsaver and BLS Instructor classes are regularly scheduled for open enrollment, while ACLS and PALS are typically offered once or twice per year.

All AHA and ARC Instructor courses are available for organizations that need to conduct internal training. Need ACLS, PALS, PEARS, or a Red Cross Instructor class? We can run a class at our office for as few as 2 Instructor Candidates.
